Application development for the platform behind the Observatório do Ordenamento do Território e do Urbanismo of the Direção-Geral do Território.
The context
Observing the territory means gathering information produced in different systems and at different moments, organising it coherently and making it available for analysis along various geographic and temporal dimensions.
The work
In 2019, the Direção-Geral do Território entrusted Waymotion with the application development of the platform supporting the Observatório do Ordenamento do Território e do Urbanismo, the observatory for spatial planning and urbanism. The work was carried out in three phases, following the progressive implementation and validation of the features.
The engagement focused on the administration and management component of the observatory, supporting the organisation and updating of the information the platform uses. The system was designed to integrate data and indicators from different infrastructures and databases, making them easier to search, consult and view territorially.
The project benefited from the experience the Waymotion team had accumulated in geographic information systems and indicator platforms. Development was carried out in close coordination with the DGT team, through moments of review, presentation and validation of the work.
What it left behind
This reference reflects Waymotion’s ability to build digital instruments supporting territorial monitoring, turning information from a variety of sources into a structured base for understanding and following the dynamics of the territory.
