An application supporting contact monitoring and the operational management of COVID-19 information, combining alphanumeric and geographic data.
The context
The course of the pandemic required the responsible bodies to follow a high volume of information daily: reported cases, associated contacts, surveillance or isolation status and successive contact attempts. With the data spread across separate files and applications, building an up-to-date picture of the situation was difficult.
The work
In 2020, Waymotion developed for the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Lezíria do Tejo an application oriented towards contact monitoring and support for the operational management of COVID-19. The solution drew on the capabilities of the applications already in place at CIMLT and incorporated data analysis and visualisation components, including address search, georeferencing, spatial analysis, time-series charts, indicators, thematic maps and consultation on mobile devices.
Mechanisms were also planned for following tasks and contact attempts, alerts, message sending and interoperability with the Trace-COVID application, with particular attention to personal data protection. Although the procurement was approved at intermunicipal level, the operational use of the application was never enabled by the supervising authority.
What it left behind
This reference reflects Waymotion’s ability to respond quickly to an emerging need, combining geographic information, data analysis and software development into an instrument designed to support decisions and operations in a crisis.
